I investigate how thermal environments influence ecological phenomena. I have two main projects. One focuses on how temperature change as a result of deforestation affects amphibian community composition, and the other investigates how temperature may constrain the intensive mating displays of white-bearded manakins.

Research Question
How does the thermal environment affect animals in the Choco?
Methods
We measure microclimates in the field and measure thermal traits of the focal organisms such as heat tolerance.
Key Findings
Our amphibian work has found that large species that can tolerate heat for long periods of time are the most likely to occupy deforested areas.
